Expedition

The Expedition Overview

As part of the celebrations to mark the UAE’s 40th  Anniversary, British world record-breaking adventurer, Adrian Hayes, and two Emirati Nationals, will re-create the adventures of the legendary British explorer Wilfred Thesiger by travelling with camels and on foot from Salalah in Oman to Abu Dhabi via Liwa and Al Ain.

More than 100 years after the birth of Thesiger, the expedition team will rely on basic provisions, nature and Arabic hospitality to survive the estimated 40 day trek. The team will leave Salalah on 30th October 2011 and aim to reach Liwa by National Day continuing onto Al Ain and complete their journey to Abu Dhabi around 12th December 2011.  The team will travel and survive by means as close to the methods used by Thesiger and his companions.

    Best regards

  3. I guess you are in the middle of all the rain. Our Empty Quarter tour was in Hashman today – and amazingly they estimated they had cloud cover down to 100meters above the ground – and of course wind and rain. I looked at the satellite and the cloud looks remarkably like a major storm – so hope you are all oko

  4. Major, I’ve just sunk a 500ml bottle of fridge-cool Evian. Just thought you’d like to know. What are friends for, eh ? Shortie
